Ben Shelton seems hopeful as he makes his prediction for fairytale run at Wimbledon

The grass season has begun with players taking to the bright green lawns in Europe. Ahead of this, the ATP asked their players to make their bold predictions for the grass court tournaments.

One of the things they had to predict was which players would have a fairytale run at Wimbledon this year. While some picked themselves in hope and others picked new talent, Ben Shelton thinks Rafael Nadal could have a fairytale run in London if he has a good tournament.

Rafa playing well and doing well would kind of be a fairytale story. I think every tournament that he's playing right now could have a fairytale ending.

However, it is unlikely that the great Spaniard will play Wimbledon as he has been clear about not wanting to switch surfaces again for the Olympics.  He is going to be playing an ATP 250 in Bastad, a clay court tournament in preparation for possibly his last Olympics run, where he is also partnering Carlos Alcaraz in doubles.

In the video interview by ATP where players were asked to make predictions about the grass court season, they were also required to guess who would win their first grass court title this year. 

Daniil Medvedev is one of the few active players to have titles on each of the three surfaces, and is also the unfortunate owner of the record of having the most titles without defending a single one. Of his 20 career titles, the Russian has one grasscourt title that he earned in Mallorca in 2021, which he had seemingly forgotten.

Oh I don't have a grass court title. I will try to win one this year...No I have one. I have one in Mallorca. Forget it.

Daniil Medvedev quipped

He then covered up this mistake by the end of the interview by saying he hopes to win his first ‘big’ title on grass. Jokes aside, the Russian will be hoping to make a deep run in the United Kingdom.
