The Los Angeles Clippers have disappointed their fans and the basketball world again. The title drought continues for them, and this time, it’s really sad as they had a perfect playoff contention team with Russell Westbrook, Kawhi Leonard, Paul George, and others. But the injuries ruined the Clippers again, and the Phoenix Suns have handed another early exit to the Los Angeles-based team.
The first-round playoff series between the Los Angeles Clippers and the Phoenix Suns started well. The Clippers got a 1-0 lead, but unfortunately, after that dub, they lost four straight games, and the Kevin Durant-led Phoenix Suns pulled down the curtains on their postseason dreams. Kawhi Leonard suited up for two games in the series and then went on to miss the remaining three due to a knee injury. Paul George wasn’t even available for the series, who was also out with a knee injury.
Russell Westbrook gave out the best of his efforts, but playing without your two superstars does some real damage. And, especially when the opponents are Kevin Durant, Chris Paul, and Devin Booker. The Suns won the series in 5 games, but it wasn’t an easy road as the shorthanded Clippers always gave them a strong fight but were never able to finish them off.
That’s exactly what happened during Game 5 between the Clippers and Suns at Footprint Center. The Clippers came back from a deficit of 20 points, made it a 2-point game, and had a chance to tie the game or even win it. But the Clippers weren’t able to convert the shot that would have shifted the tide in their favor. Eventually, Kevin Durant hit the dagger, and the Suns won by 6 points at 136-130.
Devin Booker gets the most credits for the dub as he dropped a 47-point performance, dished out ten assists and got eight rebounds. He was backed by Kevin Durant (31 points, four assists and six rebounds) and Deandre Ayton (21 points, three assists, and 11 rebounds). Norman Powell got 27 points for the Clippers, and even Brodie chipped in 14 points with eight rebounds and assists each. But none of that helped as the Suns have advanced.
The Clippers have been disappointing since the 2019-20 season. And, so far, we are yet to know the real potential of the team as all their superstars and key players have never been available and completely healthy during the post-season due to injuries. But nothing is stopping the fans from trolling them after their exit as, once again, they didn’t live up to the hype and expectations of fans. You can find some of the reactions here below:
The future for Los Angeles Clippers is once again not very clear. Many fans believe they should re-run and try it with Brodie. While many ride with the take of breaking the team and rebuilding as the organization hasn’t been able to get any good success in the past years except for the one WCF appearance.
