Sunsets at 6 p.m. are less than two weeks away

BOISE, Idaho (CBS2) — Days are getting longer and longer! We have gained over 40 minutes of daylight since the first day of winter. Every day adds another two minutes of fresh daylight to our day.

Today's sunrise was at 8:07 this morning, with sunset coming around 5:47 tonight. That is about nine hours and forty minutes of daylight.

Our first 6:00 p.m. sunset will arrive on Feb. 5. That will also be the second day of the year with over ten hours of daylight.

We should gain about an hour and 22 minutes of daylight a month from now. The sun will rise around 7:30 a.m. next month, with sunset arriving at approximately 6:30 p.m.

Our first 8:00 p.m. sunset of the year will likely arrive on March 22. Remember that we will move our clocks forward for daylight savings on March 10.
