Anna Karolina Schmiedlova vs Amanda Anisimova : Preview

Anna Karolina Schmiedlova has made a good start but has not been able to win a title this year. She has made 3 quarter-final runs so far in her 8 tournament appearances. The 26-year old Slovakian travels to Parma from the WTA-125 Event Saint-Malo in France where she reached her 3rd quarter-final.

She comes into the tie defeating former World No. 1 American veteran Venus Williams in 3-sets after losing in the first set in a match that went past the 2.5 hour mark with a scoreline of 5-7,6-2,6-2.

Amanda Anisimova has not been in great form this season failing to go past the Round of 32 this year. The 19-year old American’s breakthrough season came in 2019 where she won her maiden WTA title at the 2019 Copa Colsanitas and also reached the semi-finals of the 2019 French Open becoming the youngest to do so since 2006.

She comes to Parma from the Italian Open 2021 where she was knocked out in the Round of 32. She won her first round match in straight sets and will now play against Schmiedlova.

Anna Karolina Schmiedlova vs Amanda Anisimova : Head to Head

The duo have met just once in the 2018 Japan Open where Amanda won in straight-sets and also leads the head-to-head tie 1-0.

Anna Karolina Schmiedlova vs Amanda Anisimova : Prediction

Anna has a better record on Clay as compared to Amanda and is more experience, which stood out in her victory over Venus in the first round where she defeated after losing in the first set. Amanda’s biggest weapon is her consistency on her backhand winning points on both the wings.

Anna however will come into the tie with great confidence after her triumph in the first round and also will be looking to settle the head-to-head tie which she trails by 1.

Prediction: Anna Karolina Schmiedlova to win in straight sets.
